Super simple and delicious, these Frozen Lemon Ginger Turmeric Shots are a self-care go-to. Make them ahead and future you will thank you! Just 3 ingredients are all you need to get started: Citrusy lemon, chock-full of immune-system boosting Vitamin C; Ginger, renowned for soothing digestion; and turmeric, an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant powerhouse. Combine in a juicer or a blender, strain, and freeze - you're done!

This recipe is an amazing base with endless ways to customize. If you have a sweet tooth, try adding orange juice or honey. If extra hydration is something you appreciate in a beverage, try coconut water! You really can't go wrong with this one. I usually double or triple the recipe so I always have this drink ready to go. It tastes great cold, but I like to make it with hot water and watch the ice cubes melt into a cheerful cup of comfort. Magical!

Don't forget to share! Friendship is good for immunity too, and this recipe is just what the doctor ordered. Mix it up and pour into a mason jar, then tie on a ribbon and a pretty card with freezing instructions and serving ideas. It makes a perfect gift, especially during cold and flu season.

Happy sipping! While you're at it, be sure to take a look at my Nettle Tea Lemonade recipe for another nourishing make-ahead beverage option.

    Substitutions & Variations

    • Add coconut oil or olive oil – Since turmeric is fat-soluble, a little healthy fat helps your body absorb its benefits.
    • Sweeten it up with orange juice – Balances the tartness of lemon and adds extra vitamin C and natural sweetness.
    • Make it more hydrating with coconut water – A great alternative to regular water for extra electrolytes.
    • Boost turmeric absorption with black pepper – Piperine in black pepper enhances the bioavailability of curcumin in turmeric.
    • Add honey – For a touch of natural sweetness that also soothes the throat.
    • Mix in green tea – Brewed and cooled green tea adds antioxidants and a gentle energy boost.

I have not experimented with any other substitutions or alterations for this recipe. If you decide to make any changes by adding or substituting ingredients, I would love it if you could share your results with us by leaving a comment below.

How To Make this Lemon Ginger Turmeric Wellness Drink

Here are the step-by-step instructions to make this recipe.

Step 1: Prep the lemons and ginger and turmeric.

Peel three lemons. Use a spoon to scrape the skin off the ginger. For the turmeric, either peel it or simply wash it well (I prefer to leave the peel on and blend it).

    Recipe FAQs

Can I make this without freezing?

Yes! You can store the mixture in the fridge for 2-3 days and shake well before drinking.

How can I increase the absorption of turmeric in this drink?

Add black pepper – Black pepper contains piperine, which can increase curcumin absorption. Just a small pinch is enough.
Include a healthy fat – Curcumin is fat-soluble, meaning it dissolves in fat. Adding a teaspoon of coconut oil, olive oil, or MCT oil helps your body absorb it more effectively.

What’s the best way to store the frozen cubes?

After freezing in ice cube trays, transfer the cubes to an airtight container or freezer bag. This keeps them fresh and prevents freezer burn for up to 3 months.

I was skeptical of whether these shots would be tasty—But they are! I have them in ice-cube trays in my freezer. I pour hot water over & add a little honey and it's sooo delicious. Thanks, Christy!
