Substitutions & Variations
- Add coconut oil or olive oil – Since turmeric is fat-soluble, a little healthy fat helps your body absorb its benefits.
- Sweeten it up with orange juice – Balances the tartness of lemon and adds extra vitamin C and natural sweetness.
- Make it more hydrating with coconut water – A great alternative to regular water for extra electrolytes.
- Boost turmeric absorption with black pepper – Piperine in black pepper enhances the bioavailability of curcumin in turmeric.

How To Make this Lemon Ginger Turmeric Wellness Drink
Here are the step-by-step instructions to make this recipe.
Step 1: Prep the lemons and ginger and turmeric.
Peel three lemons. Use a spoon to scrape the skin off the ginger. For the turmeric, either peel it or simply wash it well (I prefer to leave the peel on and blend it).
Step 2: Add to a blender:
Add the lemons, ginger, and turmeric to a blender with ¼ cup of water. Blend until smooth.
Step 3: Pour through a strainer.
Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer, pressing firmly on the pulp to extract as much liquid as possible.
Step 4: Freeze into cubes.
Transfer the strained liquid to an ice cube tray and freeze.
Step 5: Add cubes and sweetener to a mug.
Add two of the frozen wellness cubes to a mug and add 1–2 teaspoons of honey or maple syrup.
Step 6: Add water and enjoy!
Pour ½–¾ cup of boiling water over the cubes. Stir well and enjoy!
Recipe FAQs
Yes! You can store the mixture in the fridge for 2-3 days and shake well before drinking.
Add black pepper – Black pepper contains piperine, which can increase curcumin absorption. Just a small pinch is enough.
Include a healthy fat – Curcumin is fat-soluble, meaning it dissolves in fat. Adding a teaspoon of coconut oil, olive oil, or MCT oil helps your body absorb it more effectively.
After freezing in ice cube trays, transfer the cubes to an airtight container or freezer bag. This keeps them fresh and prevents freezer burn for up to 3 months.
